I am from Dominican Republic and I have rented in many places, and none has exceeded my expectations as much as this. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get. A beautiful place to relax, enjoy nature, and the attentions of Frans and Cristina, you feel right at home. It is about 20 minutes from the city center, including 10 minutes of unpaved road, so if you want something central is not your place; but if you are looking to be relaxed and unwind, look no further. Definitely, I can not wait to return the next time.

Heavenly is the word that comes to mind. If you are coming to Puerto Plata for some rest, relaxation, privacy and renewal, this is the place to come. It is up in the mountain, but a mere 15 minutes from the center of town and the beaches. Getting there can be a little challenging for some, but when you arrive up there you just don’t want to go back down. The view is spectacular, the air is cool and fresh. The actual Villa has two separate apartments. Each apartment has two separate large bedrooms, three separate bathrooms, a large living room with well appointed furniture and a kitchen. The kitchen has all the cooking utensils and accessories. If you are into cooking yourself, all you need to bring are your ingredients for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is provided. As you wish, Rosa will prepare you a typical Dominican breakfast or an American fare (I don’t why you would want that). Frans, the owner, is a very honest and straight forward individual. He will send one of his representatives to go to the airport, with your picture at hand, to welcome you and bring you to him. Once you arrive at the complex, you have complete privacy. The staff is very attentive. You can arrive at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon, Junior and Francisco will be there to help you and make sure that every thing is taken care of. If you go out of the complex and return at 2:00 in the morning, they are at your door steps there making sure that you are ok. It was overall a wonderful stay. I can’t wait to go back again and take my kids with me.

Exelentes atenciones, organización y limpieza. La habitacion es increiblemente cómoda. La vista y la tranquilidad que se respira es formidable. Desde que llegamos el sr. Frans y Cristina nos recibieron muy atentamente y amables, siempre estuvieron pendientes a nuestras necesidades. Poseen un trato muy humano y cálido. Los desayunos en las mañanas en una cualidad que suma mucho, estos tienen una amplia variedad y si quieres algo en específico te lo hacen sin ningún problema, en ese momento logramos compartir con nuestros anfitriones y conocer los demás huéspedes que en ese momento se encontraban hospedados. La ubicación es fácil de llegar, aunque el camino es un poco incómodo por el hecho que la calle no esta asfaltada, lo que hace que subir y bajar al pueblo sea un poco tedioso. Fuera de esto, recomiendo Great Ocean View al 100% y cuando vuelva por los lados de Puerto Plata estaré hospedándome nuevamente en sus instalaciones.
Lo que mas me ha gustado es la limpieza, organizacion, la tranquilidad y la naturaleza que se respira en los alrederes. El trato con los huespedes y la avena de Cristina! jaja!

Frans and Cristina were incredibly welcoming. Cristina greeted my sister and I at the airport with a huge smile and a helping hand. After our long flights we were exhausted and for a small fee she offered to have dinner prepared for us that night as well as breakfast the next morning, both of which were absolutely divine. We loved the food so much that we arranged to have breakfast prepared for us every morning! The apartment was well equipped with a security system and they have guards on staff at all times. The land surrounding the apartment, and the apartment itself are secured by metal gates which border the property and bar the windows. The neighborhood was very rural and agricultural. It was approximately 2 miles up a mountain well outside of the city. It was very peaceful, serene and quite frankly, a Paradise. If country living is your ideal getaway from the chaos of everyday life, then the country sounds will bring you as much comfort as it has brought us. We enjoyed an extensive walk of the grounds and really took in the serenity of the landscape. The apartment we stayed in was spacious and so comfortable with every amenity we could possibly need! They even offered us laundry services at an extra cost. Bottled water was provided for us and although the grid is not consistent we were never without a warm shower or electricity as they have a backup battery and generator. The beds were perfect and there were ceiling fans in each room which kept us cool. The view from the deck was breathtaking, especially if you are able to catch a sunrise. They have an awning available to block the sun if you intend to spend much time on the patio. We were brought coconuts every morning to have fresh coconut water, too. They weren’t kidding about needing an SUV to drive up the mountain. It’s not that far, but the drive is a bit bumpy! 🙂 You will definitely want to buy lots of groceries upon your arrival or arrange to have food made for your first few meals as it takes some time to acclimate to the new surroundings and navigate to the grocery store.

Last February my husband and I were guests at the Dream View Estate nearby Puerto Plata. We met Frans and Cristina some years ago and got to know them as very hospitable. You feel very welcome as soon as you arrive! The location, the houses and the view are magnificent. However what makes it even more special is the fact that Frans and Cristina know all about the area, all about the history of the surroundings en all about everything that grows and flourishes there. They prepare meals for you with at least 70% crops of their own garden. They can show you around in their garden and show you coffee and cacao plants and tell you about the processing of it. You can enjoy the taste of the local herbs in your freshly prepared meals. Even the water that is used comes from a well on their grounds. They are pretty much self-supporting and have a lot of consideration for the natural environment. It is a great place to be, with great people to be with! We would love to come back sometime. Frans is a class act. I met Frans through a stay at his estate, and we became fast friends. I will first say that you can expect excellent communication, efficiency and fair dealings with Frans. It is people like Frans and Christina who exemplify the best that AirBnB has to offer, and capture the spirit of a sharing community. They helped me rent a car from a friend, took me on several excursions, and introduced me to many people in the local community. I am a jazz musician, and I was able to perform and meet other musicians at a benefit concert that Christina was involved in. I really felt like family from the moment we first met, and I actually played some music at Christina’s nephew’s marriage ceremony. If you plan to stay at dream view estate, be sure to spend some time getting to know Frans and Christina! Dream View Estate is comprised of two spacious houses, right next to each other, overlooking Puerto Plata and its coast. Each house has two apartments (upper and lower floor), and the grounds are immaculately maintained. The interior of all four apartments is like new, and the houses are situated in a secluded wooded area in the hills. The photos accurately represent the space, but you can’t quite get the full effect without standing on one of the balconies and turning 360 degrees, feeling the breeze and smelling the air 🙂 — I stayed in the upper floor of the octagonal house, which was beautiful, clean and comfortable.

This place is very beautiful, comfortable and well equipped with everything you need and more. Frans is an awesome host, always trying to make us feel like home and one of the best parts of the rent is that it includes breakfast wich was amazing and you can even choose what kind of breakfast you prefer, American, Dominican or European. The location of the house its a bit far from the city but it’s totally worth it, because the view compensates everything, you even see the ocean from there. I would def recommend this place to anyone, you won’t regret, specially if you are looking for a place to find peace and relax.
